During its General Assembly, the Spanish Confederation of Compound Animal Feed Manufacturers (CESFAC) presented the publication Markets and Statistics 2025, which estimates Spanish industrial animal feed production at 30,817,705 metric tons in 2025. The organization notes that this figure is not directly comparable to those of previous years due to a methodological change introduced by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which expands the number of products included in the industrial animal feed category.

For reference, total feed production in Spain reached 38.81 million metric tons in 2024, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, including both industrial production and feed produced on farms for on-farm consumption.

Swine remains the primary destination for industrial animal feed production, with 13.37 million metric tons, equivalent to about 45% of the total. This is followed by feed for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and rabbits, totaling more than 10.5 million metric tons (34%), while poultry accounts for 5.64 million metric tons (17%). Pet food amounts to 1.07 million metric tons, and feed for fish and marine animals is around 160,000 metric tons.

During the General Assembly, held under the theme “Let’s Put People First,” CESFAC President Fernando Antúnez highlighted the strategic role of animal feed in the competitiveness of the Spanish livestock industry and the sector’s ability to adapt to a context marked by regulatory, geopolitical, and market uncertainty. The event concluded with the presentation of the 2026 Medals of Merit in Animal Feed, which recognize the contributions of professionals and institutions to the sector’s development.
